Shaping Bay

After the death of a quad (my favourite I might add) Ronald and I headed into Greg's shaping bay for a bit of design and appreciation.

Death of a Quad

RIP.
Favorite Hayden Lewis Quad Speed Seeker
Snapped 2:47pm at Mermaid Beach. That's the problem with punchy onshore waves... you get bored and take off on closeouts. Bummer...

Easterly Pattern

The Easterly trade winds seems to be keeping the surfing options really limited up here - might be time for a change....

Christmas Surf Check

Up here on the GC there wasn't much on offer xmas morning - in fact it was onshore and small.... but I heard that Santa had swell in the sack down in ol' Manly Town. Merry Christmas~!

Broken Water Shots

Grant Newby runs the Ally Fish Fry and runs the largest online resource of surfboards of the wooden variety. Into wooden surfboards, alaia's, olo's, toothpicks, chambered? The wood is good at Wooden Surfboards.

Grant had his trusted waterproof point'n'shoot out at Broken the other day and manage to snap a photo of me.

Cheers Grant!

The Key Tree

Nothing is Permanent.
Don't know how long this key has been hanging on this tree, but by the looks of it a while. I hope it stays there until it disappears into nothingness... just the rope left.

Crescent Same Arvo

Mid Drive Glass Off

Mid way up the coast to Crescent Head the wind died off. Took the first right turn and, what do you know, found 3-4ft peaky glassy beach break perfection. After a pretty weak session at Saltwater in the morning it didn't take me long to get out there.

Bali Dogs

The Warung at Keramas were sheltering two puppy's that had be lest than 4 weeks old. There mum had died and the little ones were just too cute. After asking what the dogs names were the guy that runs the warung at Keramas replied "Western dogs has name, big house, very rich; Bali dog, no house, no name."
If we could have we would have brought them home, but the least we could do was buy them a couple of collars, a food bowl and some puppy food.
Oh, and our friend at the warung decided to name them; Suni and Sunu.

Pre-dawn

No matter where you are in the world - If you're out in the water first, you've got the waves to yourself.
Simple formula. Don't get pissed + Set your Alarm + Get out of Bed = surfing Keramas at 2-4ft by yourself (for half an hour at least).
